Sorry, the 70’s come back in my head occasionally.

Actually, I ran across a thought this morning that was simple, yet profound. I want it to change the way I deal with other people. It goes like this:

People may not remember exactly what you did or said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

Think back to friends/boyfriends/girlfriends from High School. You may not remember exactly what was said or done between you, but you immediately remember how you felt toward them. In fact, those feelings come back in a flood when you hear their name.

Our minds don’t store every fact, every word, every action that we do, hear, or watch. There is just not enough room in our brains for all of that. Instead, it stores the emotion and reconstructs the facts around that feeling. The thing that echoes in other people’s hearts about you, is how you make them feel. Incredible.
